Q:When is the museum closed ?
A:The museum is closed on Wednesdays, except national holidays. (If Wednesday is a national holiday, then the following non-holiday weekday will be closed. It is also closed 31 December -3 January and late February.)

A:The museum is open : April-October 10:00-17:00
November-March 10:00-16:00
Q:May I take photographs of the artworks?
A:You may photograph artworks in the exhibition room where photography is permitted, but please refrain from taking close-ups or photographs solely of the artworks.
Q:May I take photographs inside the museum?
A:Photography is permitted outside of the exhibition rooms. Please refrain from taking photographs in all exhibition rooms except for Exhibition Room 5.
Q:May I take photographs of the exterior of the building?
A:Yes, you may.
Q:What are the opening hours of the café?
A:From April through October, the hours are 10:00-17:00, and from November through March, they are 10:00-16:00.
*The café is closed 31 December - 3 January and late February.
Q:Can the café be used without entering the museum?
A:Yes, the café can be accessed by itself.
Q:How can the Salon be used?
A:Equipped with WiFi, the Salon is a paid space with beverage service that can be used for working, resting and chatting. It is also used as a venue for museum concerts and lectures with professional performers (see 'Announcements' for details regarding concerts and other events).
Q:What are the salon’s opening hours?
A:The Salon’s opening hours are the same as the museum’s with last entry 30 minutes prior to the museum’s closing time. Please see below for the details.

Q:How much is the entrance fee for the salon?
A:Salon tickets are as follows;
Adults : ¥800
High School Students or Younger: ¥400
Preschool children: Free*
Holders of disability certificate: Half price*
*Free and half-price tickets are issued at the reception.
**Tickets for the salon can be purchased for the salon alone or together with the museum with some discount. Please ask at the reception for the details.
Q:Can the Salon be used without entering the museum?
A:Yes, the Salon can be accessed by itself.

Admission Fee

Q:How much is the admission fee?
A:The admission fees are as follows : Museum for Adults: 2,000 yen / High school students or younger : 1,000 yen
Salon Le Damier for Adults: 800 yen /High school students or younger : 400 yen
Combination of Museum + Salon Le Damier for Adults: 2,500 yen / High school students or younger : 1,200 yen
Preschool children: free / Holders of a disability certificate: half price.
*Free and half-price tickets are issued at reception.
Q:Can I reserve or pre-purchase tickets?
A:No, you cannot.
Q:Is there a discount for people with disabilities?
A:Yes, there is. Please present your disability certificate at reception for half-price tickets.
Q:Do you accept credit cards or e-money?
A:Yes. We accept credit cards and QR code payments. Prepaid transportation cards such as “Suica” can be used from January 2023.
Q:Are there any free admission days?
A:No, there are currently no free admission days.
Q:Do I need to make a reservation?
A:No, it is not necessary to make a reservation.
Q:Is there an annual membership scheme for the museum?
A:No. We are preparing to offer membership schemes from next spring. We will notify the details on our website when they are ready.

Q:Is there parking available for buses?
A:Yes. Please use the Shin-Karuizawa Town Car Park on the south side of the main building with a parking capacity of 226 standard vehicles and 12 large vehicles.

Accessibility

Q:How can I get to the museum from Karuizawa Station?
A:Please see the 'Access' page for a map (hyperlink to access page).
Q:Is there any parking for cars and bicycles on the museum’s premises?
A:There is no parking space for cars on the premises apart from vehicles used by visitors with disabilities. Please use Shin-Karuizawa Town Car Park on the south side of the museum. Bike racks are located on the west side of the museum, near the entrance. Please refrain from parking bicycles in other areas.
Q:Is there a parking discount service?
A:No, there is not.

Museum

Q:How many works are in the collection?
A:There are approximately 200 pieces.
Q:How many works are on display at any one time?
A:Approximately 120 works of art are on display at any given time.
Q:Can I use images of the works on the website?
A:As Tsuguharu Foujita is an artist whose copyright has been inherited, images of his works cannot be used freely without permission. If you wish to do so, please contact the museum at (+81)0267-42-1230.

Q:Are coin lockers available?
A:Yes, they are located in front of the entrance to the exhibition rooms on the ground floor of the museum. Please leave all luggage besides handbags in the lockers.
Q:Can I borrow a wheelchair?
A:Yes, wheelchairs are available.
Q:is there a universal toilet in the museum ?
A:Yes, it is located on the ground floor.
Q:Can infants enter the museum?
A:Infants can be carried in the museum. Pre-school children who enter the museum on foot can receive free admission. Please ask at reception.
Q:Can I borrow a pushchair?
A:No, pushchairs are not available.
Q:Can I bring my own pushchair?
A:Please leave your pushchair at reception.
Q:Is there a nursing room or place to change nappies?
A:There is no nursing room. Please use the universal toilet for changing nappies.
Q:Can I bring my pet into the museum?
A:No, pets are not allowed in the museum.
Q:Are there places to eat and drink?
A:Drinks are available in Salon Le Damier (paid space) on the ground floor of the museum. You can also bring your own food to the salon. There is also HARIO Cafe within the museum.
Q:Are vending machines available?
A:Salon Le Damier offers coffee, hot chocolate, hot and cold water for free.
Q:Where can I buy souvenirs?
A:There are museum shops on the first and second floors of the museum.
Q:Do you sell postcards of the works in your collection?
A:They are available for sale in our museum shop.
Q:Can I buy the catalogue online or by mail order?
A:The museum's official catalogue is published by Sekai Bunka Publishing. It is available at the museum shops, in bookshops nationwide, and in related online shops.
Q:Are there any inside smoking areas?
A:No, smoking is strictly forbidden within the museum.
Q:Is there an audio guide available?
A:No, there is not.
Q:Are there any lectures, events or guided tours related to the exhibition?
A:Not at the moment. We will consider this in the future.
