Karuizawa Ogosso

In Vol. 02 of our "Walking in Karuizawa" special feature, we continue to introduce Ogosso, a restaurant based on the concept of "sake, snacks, and a good time," recommended by our museum's chairman, Yasushi Ando. "Ogosso" is a Nagano dialect word meaning "delicious treat." Ogosso is particularly renowned for its chicken dishes, and their popular lunchtime dish is Shamo chicken oyakodon. In the evening, they offer a wide variety of dishes, from Shamo chicken and mushroom hotpot and Shinshu beef sukiyaki to seared tuna, horse mackerel carpaccio, and fried scorpionfish, all with a rich menu that also makes a great snack to go with your drinks. This restaurant is known for its commitment to using only carefully selected ingredients, including Gitaro Shamo chicken, Kato Melt-in-your-mouth Pork, Yaehara rice, Kampo eggs, and authentic sake sourced from the many sake breweries in Nagano Prefecture.
In addition to counter seating, private rooms are also available. The restaurant is easily accessible, just a four-minute drive or taxi ride from Karuizawa Station. The restaurant has many regular customers from the Karuizawa local area, and the cheerful personality of the chef is also popular. We hope you will enjoy your time in the comfortable atmosphere of Karuizawa, which is rich in nature.
