  • Founded in 1752 in Shijo, Kyoto

Tachiyoshi's predecessor, Tachibanaya Kichibei, was founded in Shijo Tominokoji, the heart of Kyoto, in 1752 during the late Edo period. In 1894, the eighth head of the family, Okada Tokunosuke, changed the store name to Tachiyoshi. Tachiyoshi continued to exist in the same location through the Taisho and Showa periods.

  • Taking the time to do the work carefully

We place importance on each piece going through a careful process, not just the basics of molding, glazing, and firing, but also the design, coloring, decoration, shape of the vessel, and the amount of glaze applied.

  • You can use it for a long time and you won't get bored of it.

Because each piece is handmade, there are small differences that give it its individuality, and you can discover something new every time you look at it. This is what we believe makes a piece of tableware that can be used for a long time.
