Exhibition Overview
Japan's first private museum with a permanent exhibition exclusively dedicated to Tsuguharu Foujita's works opens
The Karuizawa Ando Museum of Art will finally open on October 8, 2022.
The museum houses approximately 180 of Fujita's works, which have been collected over the years by Representative Director Yasushi Ando, who has been involved in the revitalization of many companies, and his wife Megumi, and which they have treasuredly displayed in their home. The museum is the only private art museum in Japan to exhibit a wide range of Fujita's works, from paintings of "Girls," "Cats," and "Madonna and Child," motifs that Fujita continued to paint throughout his life, to rare early landscapes, the milky-white nudes that are synonymous with Fujita, and handcrafted pieces such as furniture and tableware that he decorated himself.
As part of the opening celebration, almost all of the major works in the collection will be on display.
To commemorate the museum's opening, the opening event will feature almost all of the museum's major works from its collection of approximately 180 pieces. This will be a rare opportunity to get a complete overview of the museum's collection. Furthermore, while there are usually very few opportunities to take photos with Fujita's works in art museums, for this exhibition, with the full cooperation of the Fondation Fujita France, exhibition room 5 has been designated as a photography spot. For this special period only, you will be able to take home memories of your visit to the museum.
*We plan to hold special exhibitions from time to time in the future. Details will be announced as soon as they are decided.
