This year's plate features Tsuguharu Foujita's "Ten Postures of a Cat" (1929), a work in our museum's collection.

"Ten Poses of Cats" is a collection of prints based on Fujita's watercolors, published in 1929 by Apollo in Paris. It was printed using a mixed technique that combines drypoint, known as the Macart method, with etching. The lively depictions of cats in ten different poses make this one of Fujita's masterpieces from the 1920s. The soft colors, which are also common to the "Milky Ground" works that made Fujita famous during the same period, and the delicate texture of the fur and relaxed poses expressed on the paper make it seem as if you can hear the cats' breathing.

This product is a collaboration with Tachiyoshi, a long-established ceramics store in Kyoto, and is a masterpiece that combines tradition and high quality.
