Special project commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of the war: "Tsuguharu Foujita: Between War and Art - Depicting the Battlefield, Home Front Landscapes, and Everyday Life"
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of the war, our museum will be holding a special exhibition, "Tsuguharu Foujita: Between War and Art - Depicting the Battlefield, Home Front Landscapes, and Everyday Life," from Thursday, July 17th to Sunday, September 28th, 2025.
This exhibition will feature war paintings by Tsuguharu Foujita, who was appointed war painter in 1938, as well as works depicting scenes from home and everyday life. Foujita sought to continue growing as an artist while fulfilling his duties as a war painter. Using the many words left behind by Foujita as clues, we will explore the aspirations of an artist that are embodied in each of his works.
At the same time, a special exhibition titled "Tsuguharu Foujita and Misao Takano: A Record of Their Wartime Friendship - From the Former Misao Takano Collection" will be held in the Special Exhibition Room.
